Snow Leopard Conservation: Tales From the Top of the World
When: 6:30 p.m., January 14
Where: National Zoo Visitor Center Auditorium
This lecture is free and open to the public.
Jackson will talk about his arduous fieldwork in high-mountain habitats and extreme low temperatures, and his efforts to recruit rural farmers—whose lives are directly affected when snow leopards eat their livestock—to the cause of saving these rare and beautiful predators. He will also discuss the radio-tracking program he pioneered, which helped build safe corridors for snow leopards and reduced their interactions with humans.
The program will be hosted and moderated by National Zoo director Dennis Kelly.
