If you’re in Washington on Tuesday and don’t have anything to do after work, come out and meet Alyssa Rosenberg! She’s doing a panel on feminism and television at the Women’s Information Network along with veteran entertainment reporter and American University professor Lorrie Lynch Meier and Howard University’s Tia Tyree. The conversation kicks off at 6:30 at 1900 L Street NW, and I imagine it could move to drinks afterwards.

George Guidall: The Art and Artifice of Audiobook Narration
Accokeek Branch
Wednesday, December 8, 7 pm.
George Guidall has entertained audiobook listeners for over 20 years, garnering rave reviews in publications like Audiofile, Library Journal and Publisher’s Weekly. He has recorded classic favorites like Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment, and thrilled listeners with his readings of  Wally Lamb’s bestseller, I Know this Much is True. Mr. Guidall is the recipient of an Audie, the Oscar Award’s equivalent for best audiobook, for his reading of John Irving’s A Widow for One Year.
Author Stephen King said about Mr. Guidall, “I treasure the way he’s brought some of my favorite stories—including my own—to full brilliance.” An accomplished actor for over 40 years, he received an Obie for best Off-Broadway performance, and has performed at the New York Shakespeare Festival with legendary actors Meryl Streep, Morgan Freeman and Kevin Kline. Joins us for an entertaining evening with George Guidall. Families welcome. Seating limited to first 75 customers. Pick up tickets at Information Desk.

The library closes at five, so we can't go later, but the room is available earlier than our two o'clock start. Should the party start at noon?

View Answers

Yes, noon is better!

No, three hours is enough time.

We can always decamp to a bar if we're so awesome we want to hang out more.

The people below offered to bring the food below. Please comment below to let us know exactly what you plan to bring, or that you will unfortunately not be attending after all. I will bring paper plates, plastic utensils, and a couple of two liters of generic soda, probably a cola and a cream soda.

If someone who has a DC library card/driver's license/one card would like to reserve room A9 at Martin Luther King library (901 G St NW, near Metro Center and Gallery Place Metro stations) on May 8 for the afternoon, we could get started planning on who is bringing what.

I favor this plan because it is easily Metro accessible, DC library meeting rooms are free, and this room has WiFi, which is great for us if we need/want it. Also, if we want to decamp to a bar/restaurant, that can be done.

(May 8 is the Saturday closest to the Open Beta Day that this room is available. If people who are interested in attending are not available on May 8, we can cancel the reservation w/o losing anything.)
