dcmetroNext Saturday, the Potomac Fiber Arts Guild is having their biennial auction at St. Mark Presbyterian Church (10701 Old Georgetown Road, Rockville MD) starting at 10am. This auction includes a live auction, a silent auction, a yarn sale (yarn for $1/pound), book and equipment tables, and is catered by potluck. It is a lot of fun, and generally has a range of finished projects from silk quilts to handwoven challah covers to Fair Isle sweaters for auction. This year's theme is 'Dinner Party', so table linens and centerpieces are anticipated.
Next weekend is also the second weekend of the Countryside Artisans Tour, which is an open house by several artisans in their own studios, mostly in northern Montgomery County. There are yarn dyers, potters, a blacksmith. a furniture maker, and a glassblowing studio on the tour this year.
And of course, there is the DC Downtown Holiday Market until the December 23rd, in the Penn Quarter.
