If you missed the Emancipation Proclamation on display at the National Archives in January like I did, you have a second chance to see it. According to Groupon, an original signed copy of the Emancipation Proclamation is at President Lincoln's cottage until the end of April.

Hello! I'm a 22 year-old female recent college graduate looking to move down to DC area in early February. I was wondering if anybody had a room they would be interested in subletting for a few months, or know of anybody who might be interested in subletting. This Saturday, January 12th, the classic film Alexander Nevsky will be shown at the Strathmore with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra performing live Prokofiev's score at 8pm.

There are still tickets available, and the Strathmore Music center is conviently located at the Strathmore-Grovesnor Metro station on the Red Line.

The Dulles Corridor Metrorail construction will close all lanes of westbound I-66 between the Dulles Connector Road (Route 267) and Leesburg Pike (Route 7) from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., Monday, Jan. 7, through Saturday, Jan. 12, due to work on the overhead bridges (guideway) crossing the highway.

Detour: Exit to westbound Route 267, then take the exit to southbound Route 123, exit to southbound I-495, and then exit to westbound I-66.

I'm going to be running a vintage Valentine workshop, February 3 at noon, at Polly Sue's in Takoma Park. We're going to use vintage paper and ephemera to make awesome, glittery Valentines. If you're interested in participating, let me know-- space is limited to 12 for now, although if there's a lot of interest we may add a second session. All materials are provided, which does mean there's a $10 materials fee.

I'm looking to getting a group to see The Hobbit at the midnight showing at the Majestic in Silver Spring this Thursday with meeting for dinner beforehand.

Anyone interested? There's lots of places to meet and eat in downtown Silver Spring, and given how well The Avengers premerie worked this summer, I doubt there will be any problems with tickets.

A tractor trailer has overturned on the ramp from the Inner Loop to the I-95 Southbound HOV lanes. The tractor trailer is leaning on the jersey wall of the ramp, with debris spilled below onto the Inner Loop. All travel lanes on the ramp are blocked. All travel lanes of the Inner Loop are reportedly blocked by debris, with traffic getting by only in the left shoulder. Be advised, there is another vehicle accident blocking all Inner Loop Main Line lanes prior to Braddock Rd (near Robinson Terminal), entrance ramps to the HOT Lanes are not affected.

The AFI theater in Silver Spring is showing The Hound of the Baskervilles as a selection in their Sherlock Holmes series. This is the 1959 Hammer Studios production that features Peter Cushing as Holmes and Christopher Lee as Sir Henry Baskerville.

It starts at 8:45 pm and runs 87 minutes. If anyone is interested in going, with perhaps meeting up for dinner beforehand, contact me.

Below are the road closures for the 37th Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) and the MCM10K on Sunday, October 28. Both events start at 7:55 a.m. and will run through Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. The MCM wheelchair/hand cycle division will start at 7:40 a.m. on Route 110 in Arlington, VA.

Only these streets will be affected on race day. Local jurisdictions will reopen the roads as soon as race course operations cease, with the MCM course officially closing by 3:00 p.m.

All lanes of the Inner Loop of the Capital Beltway are closed at Old Georgetown Road in Bethesda. A tractor-trailer has jackknifed.

The tractor-trailer is the second one to do so early Friday. The other is near Md. 355 on the Inner Loop.

Traffic is diverted off the Inner Loop onto Old Georgetown Road.

This weekend the National Book Festival will be held on the Mall.

The festival includes poetry, non-fiction, fiction, children's books, and graphic novels. On Sunday, there will be a special pavilion on 'Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Graphic Novels' -- so that's when I'm going. Hope to see some of you there!
