ETA- The story about truckers planning to block traffic on the beltway is confirmed as a hoax. The only upcoming highway trouble should be your regularly scheduled holiday weekend traffic.

Supposed to be happening this Friday-Sunday, a protest called "Truckers Ride for the Constitution" is planning to tie up interstate 495 with big rigs travelling below 55 mph

Just got this in my inbox, and thought it might interest or be relevant to some people...for those who aren't familiar with all the knitting stores ever in the DC region, Fibre Space is in Old Town Alexandria on King Street.

Basic materials are as low as $5 for needles and $10 for yarn, should you need them. The instruction is free and the community is priceless!

*Please bring government ID or contractor ID.

Intro to knitting classes are normally $75, now free during these times for those impacted by shutdown.

The Virginia Department of Transportation is closing all lanes of I-95 South on Friday night and Saturday night for bridge work at Route 234, according to a VDOT release.

Motorists will be able to take a detour to Route 1.

The lanes will begin closing at 9:30 p.m. both nights, with full closures by 1 a.m. The roads will begin to reopen at 4 a.m. on Saturday morning and 5 a.m. on Sunday morning. The closures will happen between Exit 152 and Exit 150.

During the closure, crews will be working to lift steel beams for the new bridge for the upcoming 95 Express Lanes.

To follow the detour, exit at 152 A at Route 234 east and go to Route 1 south to Joplin Road and then return to I-95 south. One Route 1 lane will also be closed before Dumfries Road to help accommodate the higher traffic from the detour.

I'm gearing up to host a monthly crafting afternoon at my house-- basically, just a chance for people to drop by anytime between lunch and dinner and make things while hanging out with other people, one day a month. There's a Facebook group here, and I will post dates to my DW at least a week in advance.

The Blossom Kite Festival, part of the Cherry Blossom Festival, will be held 10 am to 4:30 pm tomorrow at the Washington Monument grounds.

Since the Metro is running without track work of any kind this weekend, if you want to come to the festival, the Metro is the best way to travel.

Myself, I'm hoping to make the Japanese Kite Fighting at 3pm. See you then!
